Accessibility
This site should work for everyone who comes to it. Here is what we have built in, what we have not verified, and how to reach us when something gets in your way.
What we aim for
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That is the standard courts, procurement teams and our own clients work from, and it is the standard we hold this site to.
We do not claim conformance. This site has not been audited by an independent third party, and we will not tell you it passes a standard nobody has checked. What follows is an honest account.
What is built in
- Every page is real HTML with headings in order, so a screen reader can move through it by structure.
- A “skip to content” link is the first thing on every page.
- Everything interactive works from the keyboard, and the focus outline is never removed.
- The menu and the project form hold focus while they are open and close with the Escape key.
- Form fields have real labels, and errors are announced rather than only coloured.
- Images that carry meaning have alternative text. Decorative images and the moving 3D scenes are hidden from screen readers.
- Text colours were measured against their backgrounds rather than eyeballed, and the failures we found were fixed.
- Motion respects your system setting: turn on “reduce motion” and the scenes, transitions and effects stop.
- Nothing needs a mouse, a hover or a drag to be reachable. The pointer effects are extras.
- Analytics loads only if you allow it, and the choice can be changed at any time.
What we have not done yet
- An independent audit, and testing with real assistive technology beyond our own checks.
- Captions or transcripts, if and when we publish video here.
- Verification of third-party pages we link out to. Those are outside our control.
Known limitations
The 3D scenes behind some pages are decorative. They carry no information, they are hidden from screen readers, and they stop entirely when reduced motion is on or when the page cannot run WebGL.
